My most memorable moments of the 2010 World Cup

· The FIFA opening concert.
· Simphiwe Tshabalala‘s goal, which was the first goal of the tournament.
· South Africa beating France for the first time in history.
· Diego Forlan’s persistence, he made it seem like Uruguay was a one man show
· Thomas Mueller’s goal scoring reign, he was one of the least expected stars of the World Cup.
· Wesley Sneijder’s consistency on the field, he even managed to score two goals against Brazil.
· Portugal scoring seven goals against North Korea.
· The German team’s performance as a whole, they provided us with entertaining soccer.
· Ghana making it to the quarter finals, this united Africa.
· The Ghanaians being nicknamed BaGhana.
· Paul the octopus, correctly predicting the outcome of all Germans matches.
· The Netherlands taking out the Brazilians out of the tournament.
· Hearing about the 27Km long Dutch fans convoy from Johannesburg to Durban to the Royal Mafikeng stadium to watch Netherlands play against Japan.
· The Germans taking third place by beating Uruguay.
· Mandela making it to the closing ceremony, even though it was cold.
· Spain being crowned the world champions.
· Thomas Mueller been awarded the Golden boot.
· Showing the rest of the world that Africa is capable of hosting world class events such as the FIFA World Cup.
· South Africa defied the critics; many thought we would not be able to pull off a world class tournament. We certainly showed them!
· FIFA president Sepp Blatter awarding South Africa 9/10 for the organization of the World Cup.
