Two people came out of building and into a story.

Unaware of what was about to happen, a couple casually walked outside of the building they had enjoyed a wonderful evening of entertainment in. They walked towards the exit, only to discover a few seconds later that they had walked into a story. It wasn’t just any story, it happened to be one of their favorite childhood stories.

To them everything seemed so foreign, it was as if they were dreaming. The couple was no longer wearing their fancy evening wear but was rather to their amusement wearing worn out clothes that were not appealing at all. Their heard a voice calling out Hansel, Gretel. Unaware that they were the ones being called the male figure came towards them and asked them “why are you not responding to my call.” The couple then realized that they must be Hansel and Gretel so they went along and walked with their father towards a house.

Upon their arrival, in the house they came across a female who they later realised is their evil step mother. The house was very small and didn’t have much in it, it looked very dull and simple. They could over hear their stepmother arguing with their father saying that the next day he would have to lead the children into the woods and abandon them, as they could no longer afford to provide for them.

The following night, their father led them into the woods. Since they knew what would happen next, they told they father that everything would work out fine. Hansel and Gretel walked further into the woods and a came across a house made of sweets and gingerbread. They were hungry and therefore they began eating the house.

The owner of the house, an evil witch lured them inside the house and trapped Hansel in a cage. The evil witch was set on having him for dinner and have Gretel do house work for her. The witch kept on feeding Hansel, as she wanted him to be plump and juicy when she had him for dinner. The time arrived when the evil witch was ready to have Hansel for dinner, she switched on the oven and Gretel pushed her in the oven. That was the end of the evil witch.

Hansel and Gretel went around the house snooping and found some gold coins, which they then took home. When they got home they were warmly greeted by their father whom was delighted to see them. Their realised that their evil step mother wasn’t there. Could it be that she was the evil witch?

The couple wakes up only to realize that they had been unconscious for a few minutes as they both fell and bumpt their heads. There were people around them asking if they were fine...

The lesson the couple learnt was that they should appreciate what they have, as some people don’t have all the beautiful things they have in their lives and that its family that is more important than anything.

We are what we do...

Do the actions we do each day manifest the kind of people we are or make us who we are? The actions we do each day should be those that build us into better people. One should treat others according to the way they would like to be treated.

If you have a habit of walking into shops and taking items without paying for them, you will be labeled a thief. Since you steal things you will be seen as a person who should be behind bars and not walking in society with the rest of the citizens.

We always have a choice when it comes to choosing how to react about something. Your reaction maybe positive or negative. You have to think carefully before acting on something so that you can identify which option is best to follow or which option is most likely to reflect the kind of person you are.

Most of us are prone to situations that in retrospect we feel we could have acted differently as the situation may have not been handled according to our true characters.

The way in which we live our lives determines the kind of people we are. People judge you according to the things you do and don’t do. Keep in mind that people have a tendency to remember the bad things that people do for a long time and tend to forget quickly the good that people do.

All in all, it is important to take note of your actions as they determine the kind of person you are. They say that actions speak louder than words, therefore take note of your actions as you are what you do.

Fish falling from the sky?

Imagine if there were to be fish falling from the sky. What would this mean? It would be unexplained phenomena, as it would be something that we have never experienced before. People would be left wondering what caused it and what does it mean. Some people would see it as a miracle, manna from God; therefore it would be seen as food for all.

I wonder though if the fish would be alive and still good to eat as I can imagine that some people would be busy catching the fish as it comes down or actually place containers on the ground to collect the fish falling from the sky. They would then possibly have fish to eat for breakfast, lunch and supper until there was n’t any more fish left. These meals would range from fish and chips, fish lasagna, fish surprise, fish and rice and so on. Each meal would fixture fish.

After the fish rain , the fish would have fallen on the ground would have to picked up and thrown away and not left to decompose otherwise there would be a terrible smell/ fish does n’t have a great smell especially when it has gone off.

Although there have been reports of fish falling from the sky in various parts of the world, there is a possible explanation for this. This can happen when during a thunderstorm light objects such as fish can be picked up and carried for long distances. Then when a tornado hits over the ground it may sweep the fish and then throw them out again. It then appears as if it is raining fish when in fact it is tornado that has caused this.

If fish were to fall from the sky, I would definitely call it a miracle.

If I were the boss?

If I were the boss I would sit in my office all day and pretend to be hard at work , meanwhile I would just be giving orders left, right and centre, telling my subordinates what to do and what not to do. I would give my subordinates grieve when they miss their deadlines and tell them what idiots they are. When they have done a tremendous job, I would take all the credit for it and bask in their glory, while they would sit back and envy me. I would be their incharge therefore I would be untouchable.

What kind of boss would this make me? Trust me it would make me a boss from hell, something I would certainly not want to be.

If I were the boss, firstly I would have to pinch myself just to make sure that I am not dreaming. I’m sure I would have worked very hard to reach that position and I would use it to my best ability.

I would be the kind of boss who encourages and understands their subordinates. I would be a boss who is approachable and not above everyone else. I would make informed decisions and be self aware of my thoughts and actions and also lead with integrity.

What colour is the wind?

When I am walking I may feel something blowing against me, but I may not be able to see it. I know it’s something that is called the wind. Wind is moving air therefore it is not visible as it is color less, though we know it does exist as we feel it when it blows us away or when it blows away pieces of paper or we see the leaves of trees moving.

Cape Town’s wind can be very strong, I remember one time it was up to 60km an hour. It was so hard to walk in the streets; one had to hold on to street light poles in order to ensure that they wouldn’t be blown away by the powerful wind.

We may despise the wind as it messes up our hair and makes us feel so uncomfortable when it blows up sand on to our faces. The wind though has a purpose which is to clean up the streets of Cape Town. It’s the “Cape Doctor "to the rescue… well it seems to do more harm than good.

If the wind was to have a colour it would possibly be an orange to a yellowish colour, as it is hardly ever calm and collected. It tends to be rough and annoying at times, especially from the months of September right up to the end of November.

What does it mean to be a celebrity in the South African context?

According to my understanding the term celebrity means someone who is celebrated, a person one can look up to and aspire to be like one day. Yet once a person appears on TV for a certain period of time, people are quick to call them a celebrity. I have found that the term celebrity is loosely used in South Africa ,well perhaps in the rest of the world as well.

For instance look at Khanyi Mbau, what is she exactly well known for? Firstly for being a gold digger and chasing after rich married men, secondly for calling herself the queen of bling. I fail to understand what the whole fuss is about her. People who are this disruptive in our society shouldn’t be given a platform to manifest the way they live their lives if it won’t build our communities.

People who should be called celebrities are people who are respectable and are good examples for the youth of our country. These are the kind of people who we should be celebrating each day. I am trying to think of a person I can call a true South African celebrity. Why is it so hard… am I not thinking hard enough?

We are rather surrounded by people whom we can't ideally call role models. Society needs to stop and think carefully about lableing just any one a clebrity.

My best season has to be...

Out of the four seasons we have in a year, the most season I look forward to has to be summer. Summer time means dressing less, showing our legs and arms which is something that one couldn’t do for months because of the blizzaring winter season we have to bare each year.
In summer we tend to want to look really good in the clothes we wear as we no longer have to wear layers and layers of clothing.

We obsess about the weight we have to lose so that we can fit into our summer clothes. We get to experience the beautiful weather that tends to lead us to spending a day at the beach with our family and friends. Lazing around the beach is usually a great way off passing time and relaxing.

We go to picnics and we come across people we haven’t seen in ages, it seems as though it is the most season people socialize and spend a lot of time outdoors. Cape Town’s nightlife seems to be more vibrant during summer, you find that there are events left, right and centre and you become so confused of where to go.

You find that summer evenings tend to be much cooler thus we stay outdoors until late in the evening, watching the sun set is an amazing experience. It is said that Cape Town has the most beautiful sunsets you can find.

People have braais and throw parties on a weekly basis because they always want to be having fun because once autumn comes they will have to hibernate till next summer.

Well you do find those ridiculously hot summer days that will have you hot and bothered, wishing that the day could come to an end immediately. Even so I still firmly say that summer is my favorite season of the year.

What does it mean to love yourself?

Loving yourself means excepting yourself the way you are and then do an introspection in order to identify the things you may not like about yourself and then also decide on an action to rectify this. This should be based on the things you feel you need to change and not on the things other people feel you may have to change about yourself.

Loving yourself means looking after your well being. This includes eating right, excising and dressing up appropriately. The minute people see that you look after yourself well, they become aware of this, and people are drawn to people who look after themselves well. Your appearance says a lot about you.

Loving yourself is also about caring about what you expose your body to, in terms of cigarettes, drugs, alcohol and anything else that is intoxicating. If you truly love yourself, you would n’t expose your body to those kind of things.

There are people who have never loved themselves, this may be due to the people that have been in their lives who have always been bringing them down by telling them that they are useless or they won’t amount to anything in life. These kind of people need to break away from these negative people and rather surround themselves with people who will contribute to making them feel better about themselves.

Compliments are one thing that boost the way you feel about yourself. Hearing that you look good always puts a smile on a person’s face. Being able to look at yourself in the mirror and being able to say damn I look good is also a step to being able to love yourself. So go on and love yourself because if you don’t who will?

We are afraid of the wrong things.

What brings about fear? Why does it exist, I ask my self. One comes across people who are scared to fall in love because of fearing to break up and being all alone again. They would rather not experience the heart ache of break ups, which is what most people call a part of life. Some people are scared to try new things because they fear failing.

Failure is viewed as something that is unacceptable by many people so they prefer to not take risks or try new things. Not trying new things means not opening your self to new ideas or ventures and you end up limiting your possibility to grow as an individual.

Fear shouldn't’t prevent us from facing the unthinkable; people should change their mind sets and be willing to try new things because you may never know what it may bring. What I tell myself is ; if at first I don't succeed, I can always dust my self up and try again.

One important lesson in life is to learn from your mistakes which will make you grow as an individual and craft you into a better person. Don't let fear hold you back from reaching your full potential. We are all afraid of something, because you are not human with out fear.

The ability music has...

Can you imagine our lives with out music? Almost every where we go we are sure to experience the sound we call music. Music is something that brings people together from all walks of life irrespective of what language they speak or understand.

A simple drum can bring out a sound that is unique and captivating, a sound that will make you want to dance and experience the joy it may bring to you. We dance and we sing along to music when we are happy, it is usually a sign of celebration and having fun.

Music has the ability to pick you up when you are feeling down, it can make you forget your problems for a moment or it can provide relevance to what is happening in your life. While listening to a song you may be surprised to realize that some one else has been through what you may be going through at a particular time and they have over come that situation. That’s why I say that music can also be therapeutic.

Music assists in creating memories; do you remember what you were doing when you first heard the first Mariah Carey song on the radio? You might remember exactly what you were doing and even what you were wearing on that day. Music makes you capture the special moments that take place in your life. The love I have for music is indescribable, it's something that lifts my spirit when I am feeling down and takes me to another place for that moment.
